Home Improvement Tips for the Spring
Written by Milan Jara on 17th Feb 2015
Spring is that special time of year when everything feels new and the air is filled with opportunity. That is mostly because everyone was cooped up all winter long and now it is time to get out of the house and enjoy nature. But before you start becoming one with the trees and grass, you need to give your home that springtime boost by doing some basic home improvement tasks.

Clean and Re-Examine Your Ceiling
The springtime is the best time to clean your ceiling thoroughly and decide if it may be time for a new look. Not to toot our own horn, but we have a ton of tile options that you can use to give your home a new look for a lot less money than you ever would have expected. The cobwebs and dust built up on your ceiling all winter long, and now, it is time to get rid of them. But it may also be time to get rid of your ceiling as well and try a new look.
Look Around for Winter Damage
Spring means that the snow is gone, but it can also expose some of the damage the snow has done to your home. Have a professional contractor come in and look at your foundation, chimney, roof, siding, and anything else that may have been damaged by the snow. It is always best to take care of those issues right away rather than waiting until they become worse.
Clean Those Windows
If you are like my wife and I, then the winter can seem to make your windows dull and dirty. You do what you can with cleaning from the inside, but that only does half of the job. Now that the snow and winter are gone, it is time to get out the ladder and finally let the sunshine in by cleaning those windows thoroughly.
Replace Your Filters
The spring is that ideal time when it is too warm for the furnace but not quite hot enough for the air conditioning. That is why it is the perfect time to replace all of your HVAC filters and maybe even get your ducts cleaned. You rarely have downtime like this for your HVAC system, so it is best to take advantage of it when it happens.
Change Over to Bright Colors
Part of your spring cleaning involves mopping and waxing your hardwood floors to make them look as dazzling as possible. But how much of that natural light could you really use if you painted your walls a brighter color? If you don’t have a hardwood floor, then brighter paint on your walls will utilize natural light and make your home seem bigger. Of course, a brighter-colored ceiling would also have a similar room-expanding effect.
Once the winter is over and spring has sprung, it is time to get your house out of survival mode and back into looking its very best. Take a look around your home and find ways that you can knock off the winter blues and make your house sing in the springtime.
