Patio Updates for Summer
Written by Milan Jara on 30th Jun 2015
We love the summer because it gives us a chance to do some fixing up around our house and be creative with our landscaping. Over the course of the past few years, we have developed some great ways to update our patio and make it look new and exciting. We do some of these things every summer, while others we do when we get the urge just to change things up. Take a look at your patio and see what you can do to make it more exciting and interesting this summer.

Dress Up the Tables
If you have wrought iron tables, or any other type of tables that can be painted, then consider giving them a fresh coat of paint for the summer. You may even want to dress those tables up by painting some flowers or other summer designs on them. If you cannot paint your tables, then get some faux flower centerpieces that will last all summer and give your patio plenty of color.
Rope Lighting
One of the latest trends in patio design that we are finding very interesting is rope lighting. It has become popular enough that you can find it at any home improvement store in a variety of colors and types. These are LED lights, and you can buy them in kits that allow you to program the lights to flash in different patterns and change colors. You can line your patio with these lights and enhance the fun that everyone has on your patio during those summer nights.
Painting the Patio
Whenever someone with a wooden patio asks us what they should do to liven up the look of their patio, we always recommend a fresh coat of paint. The paint not only freshens up the look, but it also protects the wood. But what about people with concrete patios? Ah, that is where technology comes in and gives us concrete paint! Before you buy concrete paint for your patio, make sure it is designed for outdoor use. You can use concrete paint to change the color of your patio, and you can even use it to make your patio look like a slab of marble.
Put Up a Cover
While those table umbrellas do a nice job of creating shade for people sitting at the tables on your patio, you need to also think about your other guests. Make this year the year you put up an awning over your patio and create some shade that will allow your patio to be comfortable even in the searing hot days of summer. Awnings are not as expensive as you think, and they come in a lot of different colors to help augment your backyard decor.
You don’t have to be creative to get the most out of your patio this summer! There are simple things you can do that will add some color and fun to your patio and help your summer gatherings to be more enjoyable. Think of all of the ways you can add color to your patio, and then make this summer something special for everyone.
